Whereas _____________ (hereinafter called the “Breeder”) offers for sale a Labrador Retriever described as follows:
Date______________ Purchase Price________________
Sire________________________________________ Dam_____________________________________
Puppy’s Registration #_________________________ Date of Birth_______________________________
Sex__________________ Color_________________ Puppy‘s Name: Serapic____________________
*Puppy’s name must include kennel name of Serapic at the beginning. Characters cannot exceed thirty characters
including spaces, no numbers are allowed unless written permission is given by the Breeder.
Now therefore ownership will be transferred to the buyer on the following terms, conditions, and warranties, no other
warranties or conditions are either expressed or implied.
1. The consideration of this sales is $_________ payable in cash, check, or money order (Payable to ___________)
to be paid before the puppy leaves the breeder’s possession. Final payment for this puppy will be a certificate of
spay/neuter provided by the buyer’s attending veterinarian. Puppies are required to be spayed/neutered by 12
months of age.
2. This puppy was examined by a veterinarian and has been vaccinated with partial or all shots (depending on age).
A veterinary certificate to that effect is enclosed.
3. All Serapic Farm’s Labradors are sold on a three-day trial period. If the Buyer(s) are not satisfied with the puppy
within three days of purchase, the Buyer(s) can return it at their expense for a full refund, provided the puppy is
returned in the same condition as at the time of purchase.
4. The Buyer(s) are encouraged, at their own expense, to have this puppy examined by his or her own veterinarian
within 72 hours after purchase. Failure to do so will relieve the Breeder of all liability. If the veterinarian finds
anything seriously wrong with the puppy (intestinal parasites, or umbilical hernia excluded), the Buyer(s) may return
the puppy for a full refund of the purchase price if the puppy is returned with a letter signed by the examining
veterinarian indicating the nature of the puppy’s illness. If the Buyer(s) chose not to return the puppy then the Buyer
(s) waive any and all claims regarding the puppy’s health and relieve the Breeder from any liability resulting from ill
health of the puppy. After 72 hours, the health of the puppy is the responsibility of the Buyer(s). The Breeder will not
be responsible for any disease/illness the puppy contracts after leaving her possession. All veterinarian and
shipping/traveling expenses incurred are the responsibility of the Buyer(s).
5. Within the first 30 days, if the puppy is returned due do allergies, family breakdown, relocating or any other
reasonable cause, the Buyer(s) will receive a refund of 50% of the original purchase price. American Kennel Club
registration papers must be returned and ownership must be signed over to the Breeder. A veterinarian health
certificate may be required by the Breeder and is paid at the Buyer’s expense. Any puppy returned in an unhealthy
or injured condition will not be given a refund. Refunds may not be given until the Breeder has been able to resell
the puppy to another Buyer.
6. If at anytime during the puppy’s life the Buyer(s) are unable to keep the puppy/dog for any reason, they are
required to return the puppy to the Breeder. The dog may never be sold or given to anyone or any organization
(such as humane societies, shelters, experimentation labs, etc.). Jaime or Chris will have first right of refusal in all
cases. The Breeder will refund $100 upon return of the dog. At that time American Kennel Club registration papers
must be returned and ownership must be signed over to the Breeder. A veterinarian health certificate will be required
at the Buyer’s expense. The dog must also be up to date on all vaccinations, medications, or treatments at the Buyer
(s) expense to be eligible for the $100 refund. If the dog is not up to date on vaccinations, medications, treatments,
etc. or a health certificate is not validated then the dog still must be returned, but will not be eligible for a refund of
$100.
7. The Breeder shall provide a replacement puppy (as soon as available) to any animal that is diagnosed with
moderate to severely dysplastic hips or elbows. To be eligible for a replacement the animal must be evaluated by the
Orthopedic Foundation for Animals before 3 years of age. Copies of O.F.A. certificates must be sent to the Breeder
before the animal is three years of age to be eligible for a replacement puppy. If the Buyer does not want a
replacement puppy at three years of age they may opt to keep the original animal. If they opt to keep the original
animal that requires surgery before three years of age Serapic’s Labradors will provide a one time payment of $250
toward surgery (acceptance of cash payment forfeits replacement puppy). A second x-ray or opinion by Breeder’s
veterinarian may be required before a payment is given. After three years of age no replacement puppy or payment
toward surgery will be granted. Penn-hip exams as well as veterinarian exams will not be accepted. The only
certification/evaluation that will be accepted for a replacement puppy is by O.F.A. The O.F.A. exam must be
completed by three years of age. If it is found that there was excessive stress previous to the three years of age (i.e.
jogging, jumping, agility training, hunting over long periods, overweight, pregnancy, etc) the above guarantee does
not apply. Any and all costs accumulated in the evaluation process are to be paid by the buyer(s). The original
puppy must be returned along with registration papers that are to be signed over to the Breeder and all medical
records to be eligible for a replacement puppy. NO REFUNDS WILL BE GIVEN.
8. If the animal has to be euthanized or dies from any other genetic defect before the age of three years a full report
from your veterinarian must be forwarded to my veterinarian for verification before any replacement is given. If my
veterinarian agrees that the animal’s death was caused by a genetic defect before the age of three a replacement
puppy (as soon as available) will be granted. Any and all costs accumulated in the evaluation of the deceased
animal will be paid by the buyer(s). NO REFUNDS WILL BE GIVEN.
9. The dog is also guaranteed up to four years of age against Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA). PRA must be
diagnosed by Optigen. If it is found that the puppy does have the genetic defect PRA a replacement puppy (as soon
as available) will be granted. If the puppy is found to be a carrier of PRA no replacement will be granted. Any and all
costs accumulated in the evaluation process are to be paid by the buyer(s). The original puppy must be returned
along with registration papers that are to be signed over to the Breeder and all medical records to be eligible for a
replacement puppy. NO REFUNDS WILL BE GIVEN.
10. Any other replacements are at the Breeder’s discretion. NO REFUNDS WILL BE GIVEN.
11. Any health certificates (i.e. OFA, Optigen--PRA, Eye CERF, etc.) that the Buyer completes must be copied and
sent to the breeder for verification and records.
12. The Breeder has determined that the puppy is to be sold as a “pet” and is NOT to be bred. The Breeder will
provide the AKC registration certificate with limited registration. This means the puppy may be shown in any
performance event in AKC such as hunting trials, obedience, fly ball, agility, etc. The puppy may not be shown in
conformation. The Buyer(s) agree that if any breeding (planned or accidental) should occur with the animal, they will
be considered in breach of contract and will forfeit all health guarantees. If a breeding does take place the Buyer(s)
must notify the Breeder immediately.
13. The Buyer(s) states that he/she is not acting as an agent in the purchase of the puppy, and will not be sold to an
agent or pet shop nor will this dog be sold or be given away, so as to be used as a prize or in a raffle.
14. The Breeder will not be responsible for any debts or expenses incurred by the Buyer(s) for any reason.
15. The Buyer(s) release and agree to hold the Breeder harmless from any and all liability for injuries or damages to
a person or property caused by the dog.
16. The Buyer(s) agree to inform the Breeder when they move or change phone numbers, within 30 days of such
change for the life of the dog.
17. The Buyers agree to release any or all medical records to the Breeders at anytime during the life of the dog.
18. In order to protect the puppy against communicable diseases, the Buyer agrees not to take the puppy to public
places such as dog parks, pet stores, etc. until the puppy has finished its vaccinations series (excluding rabies).
19. It is understood and agreed that this contract is made and signed by all parties to ensure the well-being and
protection of this animal. The Buyer(s) agree to keep the dog in the proper physical condition, to keep all
vaccinations up to date, test the dog yearly for heart worm, give the dog monthly heart worm tablets, keep the dog
free of all internal and external parasites, provide any medical care/treatment needed, and provide a safe
environment for the animal ( i.e. kennel run, fenced yard, not running loose). If in the opinion of the Breeder the
animal is at risk due to actions of the Buyer(s), the Breeder will repossess the animal with full, partial, or no refund of
the purchase price (Breeder discretion). All papers including the AKC registration certificates will be returned and
signed over to the Breeder at the time of repossession. Should it be necessary to enforce any part of this contract
by legal means all expenses will be the responsibility of the Buyer. No part of this contract is transferable.
